TISRI is a non-governmental, nonprofit, and non-partisan organisation, which pursues research and study in the field of foreign policy and international affairs without any political tendency.
TISRI was founded in February 1999 by a group of scholars, journalists, researchers and professionals in the area of regional and international affairs and foreign policy.
TISRI could find its place as an independent, non-governmental institute among scholarly societies in less than 6 months since its establishment. Establishing the first Non Governmental Council of Foreign Relations in Iran is one of the most important initiatives made by TISRI.
Objectives
a) To help in expanding knowledge of experts and government officials with regard to domestic, regional, and international issues,
b) To facilitate the communication of the views of Iranian experts to foreign bodies and institutions,
c) To collect and analyze data and information on regional and international issues and events.

Collection, process, and electronic archive of information,
Design and execution of research projects,
Publication of periodicals in Persian and other languages,
Publication of books and special bulletins,
Strategic assessments of various countries,
Translation of foreign research papers and other material,
Preparation of descriptive lists of world research institutions,
Cooperation in organization of specialized scientific courses in Iran and other countries,
Implementation of joint research projects with universities and research institutions throughout the world,
Organization of national and international conferences and seminars.
